This Memorial Day, we remember that 36,574 Americans died so that 51 million South Koreans could live free in peace and prosperity.
Nighttime satellite images show the staggering difference in city lighting between South and North Korea, which lives in extreme poverty and oppression.
Because of veterans’ sacrifices, South Korea ranks in the top 12 nations in health care, education and the economy. They’ve returned the favor with their many technological and medical inventions that have saved lives around the world. This is a beautiful story to remember for America’s 250th.
PERSONAL NOTE: Last year, an elderly man (age 88) named Peter left me a voicemail. He thanked me for my work honoring WWII veterans, but said, “Please, don’t forget us Korean War veterans. We fought too.” This is one reason why the war has been nicknamed the “forgotten war”, as it has been so left out of public thought. I’m dedicating this post to you, Peter!
